Why are the youth of today so lost, so mislead? Because they are in dire need of positive role-models. Gone are the old school values of the past that taught respect, hard-work and compassion. In this society many parents are both at work trying to make ends meet...doing the absolutely best they can to provide for their family…but the children suffer. Peer pressure can outweigh family values.
That’s why the Nyc Arts Cypher created a variety of arts and entertainment programs designed to motivate young people so they can utilize their energies in a more positive and productive manner. The Cypher’s many programs provide teens with an opportunity to express themselves safely and creatively, which helps foster their own self confidence by allowing them to realize they have the potential to make a significant contribution to the community.
Hero Program
Project H.E.R.O., HERO being an acronym for :helping Everyone Respect Others", is an after school program that serves as an effective tool in an Anti-bullying campaign created by the NYC Arts Cypher and The City Needs You. It teaches kids Comic Book Sequential art and writing as well as character development. The most innovative portion of this program is the element of an experienced person in the field of comic books from the writing aspects to artistic side which results in the student's having an actual fully thought out character and in more extended cases an actual comic book.
The H.E.R.O. (Helping Everyone Respect others) program prepares the kids for engaging with teach others in a society that isolated individuals through technology, which we see as an inhibition. we first develop their character covering literary skills that can both be used for pursuing a career path in college prep or creative writing in a cool and interesting way.Kids will understand because were speaking to them directly in a language that they understand and respect, arts and entertainment. Even though it's sublimial we combat the social issues through creativity so please help us be proactive and not reactive because reactions mean it's too late.
Don't be a Bully
Nyc Arts Cypher utilizes the arts as a medium to spread the anti- bullying message and assist in the anti-bullying movement.
